Nicole’s Big Announcement!

This lady never ceases to amaze me.  She was nominated for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Man Woman of the Year fundraising campaign.  And she stepped up to the plate without hesitation.  She also wanted to do it in honor of a colleague’s daughter, Little Miss Hazel, a sweet 2-yr-old, who was diagnosed with Leukemia at just 9 months of age. Nicole is a San Diego powerhouse.  She is the founder of The Henley Company, a professor, an author, a speaker, and all-around inspirational lady. I think Nicole’s motto should be “go big or go home” because she only thinks big.  She announced that she would be raising $50,000  for LLS!  At her announcement mixer, she asked us to help out, and be a Hero for Hazel.  And I was happy to jump in and offer my support! And Rachel (in red, on the left) volunteered to be campaign manager – as if being executive director of Vista Hill was not enough. So, I’ve launched a spring special, and I’m hoping to raise $2000 …

Growing Up Too Fast! | San Diego Family Photographer

These two.  Oh my goodness.  I’ve had the distinct honor of photographing them since they were mama’s “bumps”.  They are so very smart, and kind, and yes, silly! ❤ There were a lot of “outtakes” but sometimes it all comes together. 😉  And when you get to photograph some of your favorite people, in one of your favorite places – well, you find yourself smiling as much behind the camera as they do in front of it! What’s the saying?  It all started because two people fell in love. . . . And then there’s this time when little brother thought he was going to photobomb, but he ended up just looking completely adorable, and they create one of their favorite photos to hang on the wall. 🙂 Save Save

Everything’s Coming Up . . . Flowers! | San Diego Photographer

I’m pretty sure the angels sang and the light shone down from the sky when I discovered this amazing field of flowers.  The only thin to make it more beautiful was this lovely mother-daughter duo strolling through the flowers! How adorable are they?  Besides, you just can’t go wrong with a fabulous floppy hat! And then a little flower crown to mix it up.  Can you imagine this little one showing her daughter or grand-daughter this photo some day?  Memories for a lifetime – and then some! And back to our stroll!  Adorbs! 😉 Save

tween and teen model headshots

Fresh Face! | San Diego Child Model Headshots

Grassy green just screams spring and fresh – like this fresh-faced kid actor and kid model.  She’s a natural beauty! Whoah – those eyes! So I’m pretty sure she doesn’t know who Renee Russo is, but doesn’t she look like a tween version of Renee?  So pretty. 🙂 Miss C is more a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl, so the dress was a little stretch.  We were talking about her preferred style, and mom mentioned that Miss C likes rock and roll – like REAL rock and roll – Guns and Roses, Scorpions, et al!  And not just because she’s heard a couple songs on Guitar Hero – she listens with mom on the radio.  Miss C just got even cooler – I think we’ll get along just fine! 🙂 The finale shot.  When the setting sun bounces off the building across the street adding a little glam spotlight, you just go with it!  Good job, Miss C!

little girl princess styled photoshoots

Still a Princess! | San Diego Child Photographer

Little Miss A is getting so grown up.  She was in momma’s tummy for her first photoshoot – and then she was a perfect newborn model.  She’s been in different tutus over the years, and I’m honored to watch her grow up through my lens.  Miss A was a model for this photoshoot, styled by Behind the Gate Vintage Rentals, and she’s absolutely still a princess! Gotta love those little toes in the background.  And the set was ah-mazing! She looks positively royal in this one – ready to rule her kingdom of teddy bears and dolls. ❤ This is a look mom knows.  It must be hard to say no to this sweet  face. Thanks, Miss A, for coming out to play with me and my camera! Save

boho girl in field

Boho Chic Can’t Be Beat! | San Diego Photographer

Is there anything better than beachy waves and a little boho chic?  I didn’t think so! Abbey is a hairstylist, so it’s no wonder she rocks those locks! Abbey is such a natural.  I have a feeling she’s not a newbie to modeling.  These are great portfolio builders! Such a cute expression.  And her boho dress in aqua is a fun switch up from white, especially when photographing in the great outdoors. Save

Rising Star | San Diego Child Model Headshots

Simply.  Clean.  Stunning!  Working with tween or teen models is so fun!  While I work more often with grown-ups and professionals for their business headshots, doing model headshots for children allows for a little more fun and creativity – a touch more artistic flair, if you will. 🙂 True beauty.  I don’t recommend makeup for girls under 15.  A little mascara or a little tinted lip gloss is plenty.  Unless acne is an issue, keep it natural. Those eyes, I tell you!  Blue backgrounds and clothes brought out the blue in her eyes – green brought out the green.  Clothes that enhance the eyes are always a good idea. Love the cute and sassy attitude in this.  Great outfit and a super smile!

cute ewborn baby girl photoshoot

Welcome, Little Princess! | San Diego Newborn Photography

O.M.G!  How precious is she?  I don’t think it gets any better than this.  Little Miss E “posed” like a pro with her little princess crown. 🙂 She’s a sweet little bundle – and was already having a good hair day! 😉 The photo above and below are Little Miss E in her strong daddy’s arms.  She’s so dainty in the top photo, holding her hands like that. And is there anything better than cute, squishy, baby wrinkles?  I think not! One parting princess photo.  Sleep little baby – welcome to your loving family. ❤

outdoor maternity photoshoot

Pretty Mama! | San Diego Child & Family Photographer

I’ve had the distinct honor of being there for this sweet mama’s 3 pregnancies.  This time we hopped out of the studio (I’m mobile now) and stepped into the great outdoors.  Mom let me get a little creative and create a dramatic ‘gown’ for her, too!  Add some sweet light, and voila!  the perfect amount of photo drama for this mama! Love the leading lines of this fence, highlighting Mama L. A beautiful solo maternity photo. But we can’t leave dad out.  These two are the cutest, and so in love! ❤ Or the sweet girls that are growing up sooo fast!  They’re excited to meet their little sister! One last beautiful shot before the sun goes down on another wonderful day!  Congratulations! Save
